We understand that individuals use the opportunity to officiate ice hockey for a variety of reasons, and we appreciate all those that officiate games. In our experience we find that officials between the ages of 18-25 often use officiating to help themselves financially through college. It is the goal of California Hockey Officials Inc. to award a merit-based college scholarship on an annual basis to USA Hockey Officials who are actively working USA Hockey games in California while attending an accredited junior college, college, or 4-year university full-time in the State of California.
Applications are submitted directly to California Hockey Officials Inc. Scholarship Committee Member Christopher Arvizu. He can be reached by phone at 562-506-4559 or email at scholarships@californiahockeyofficials.org. Applications are first reviewed by the Scholarship Committee Members which then recommends certain applications to the California Hockey Officials Inc. Board of Directors for final review and vote to approve.
The recipient will receive a maximum of $1,500.00 ("Award") to reimburse/offset the cost of tuition. Award shall be payable upon receipt of evidence of recipient fulfilling all scholarship criteria. The recipient to be responsible for any tuition costs/fees beyond $1,500.00, if applicable.
Applicants will be notified by email on July 31st, 2025 regarding their application status.
